INTRODUCTION

The Master of Arts Management (MTS) Study Program at Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta is the first and main study program in Indonesia which was born in 2011. Its birth to meet the needs of art-based cultural managers on a very large national and global scale. At least contributing to the cultural field in all provinces in Indonesia, as well as the need to conduct cultural arts diplomacy in various countries.

Opportunities for arts and culture management work in cultural/public exchange and diplomacy (soft diplomacy) are currently part of a large flow of world cultural exchanges. One of the reasons is because of the heterogeneity and diversity in Indonesia. It is not wrong if the management of cultural arts in this undergraduate study program has characteristics that are characterized by Indonesia and are very important.

ISI Yogyakarta's Master of Arts Governance (MTS) Study Program covers five areas of cultural studies, namely (1) performing arts governance, (2) fine arts exhibition governance, (3) museums and (4) tourism, and (5) cultural policy. These five areas are very relevant to the development of traditional to contemporary art and culture in the national and international regions. They are clearly interrelated and become the basic capital in managing cultural potential (cultural management) based on Pancasila, as well as being ready to form graduates who are able to compete internationally.

ISI Yogyakarta's Master of Arts Management (MTS) Study Program includes 44 credits that have been compiled and refined over more than a decade. The aim is to provide a solid foundation in various important matters related to the field of arts management in order to have the flexibility to adjust to your career goals and aspirations.

With competent lecturers and expert practitioners, supported by adequate infrastructure, and the atmosphere of the global City of Culture Yogyakarta, MTS Study Program graduates can be easily absorbed in various related jobs. Graduates will establish individual cooperation and inter-institutional work as cultural arts managers in various professions.

PURPOSE

  1. Increase advanced (master's) knowledge and understanding of current theories and discourses in Arts Management as well as efforts to influence its practices so far.
  2. Increase knowledge of national and international trends in cultural policy and Arts Management practice.
  3. Mediate Arts Management practice skills, specifically strategic planning, financial management, business planning and designing audience engagement.
  4. Enhance quality critical, divergent thinking and expression (the ability to generate ideas).
  5. Creating quality cultural arts management research and intelligent in its application and usefulness in society.
  6. Develop the broader, consistent intellectual skills and creative thinking that the public needs.
